The slab-on-grade bungalows along the upper reaches of Westdale Avenue remind me of houseboats, a series of low-slung and rather serene barges moored alongside the road, as if the road is a darkened river and … well I can tell I’ve lost most of you already. The point is they’re interesting places, and that’s more than can be said for many houses (and what an awful thing that is for a real estate agent to say out loud). There is a distinct mid-century feel to 226 - all those just-right spaces connected in ways that maximize the square footage and collect light as hungrily as a pitcher plant traps lunch. There are three bedrooms along the southernmost wall, and the primary bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom. The kitchen has a really nice window out to the garden, and there’s a deck back there too (of course it reminds me of a dock, or a diving board, something on which to work on a tan, or fine-tune the half-gainers). The detached garage is about twenty by fifteen and there’s room for a bench along the windowed side, even with your car tucked out of the elements.
